A multi-national aerospace company, known for the design, development, and manufacture of fasteners that serve the ever-changing aircraft industry, made the decision to update all its traditional chlorinated fluids due to industry standards and customer pressure. These fluids have not been updated for more than 20 years.
BACKGROUND
Due to the strict legislation and pressure covering the manufacture of aerospace components, there was an urgent need to move away from traditional highly chlorinated neat oils. This was further supported by the companies HSE executive demand to move to a more modern grade to satisfy environmental requirements and regulations. A detailed "job Specification" was designed to support the company’s requirements with the overall goal to equal or improve performance with the new fluid and meet speicific aerospace requirements.
Teklube TS was approached for their expertise and in-house chemists to formulate a state of the art high-performance fluid. With a proven track record of replacing chlorinated oils, Teklube TS designed a bespoke synthetic additive package that outperforms the traditional chlorinated grade and improves operator acceptance by dramatically reducing misting and odour. Duracut JS Details
Duracut JS is a neat grinding/cutting fluid formulated using the highest quality synthetic hydrocarbon base stocks. It offers significant advantages in metalworking applications when compared to high-quality mineral oils of the same viscosity. It is inherently resistant to oxidation and more thermally stable, thus helping to extend sump life and improve cleanliness.
Duracut JS incorporates a carefully selected additive system including special synthetic esters and state of the art, chlorine-free, anti-wear chemistry. Heat generation at the contact zone is thereby minimised while improving component surface finish and tool life. Due to its inherent stability, the product aids grinding wheel cleanliness throughout its sump life.
