Duraform PD
Case Study
A worldwide manufacturer of automotive fasteners for luxury 4x4 vehicles and commercial vehicles has benefitted from products within the Duraform Range. These products are developed with a sophisticated additive selection, dramatically increasing yields and reducing tooling costs for this manufacturer.
BACKGROUND
Following the historic use of “off the shelf” highly chlorinated products from commercial lubricant suppliers, this European manufacturer of fasteners for the automotive industry decided to partner with Teklube TS.
The brief was to develop a state of the art fluid to support its “continuous improvement” strategy specifically looking at tool life, performance, and sustainability. The key was to move towards a more environmental and HSE friendly grade, designed to be used on all material types including high nickel alloys and stainless steel. With the support of Teklube’s application and technical team, the following improvements were achieved:
Dramatically Increased Tool Life (Please See Table)
Reduced consumption through improved thermal stability
Improved operator environment through the removal of traditional additives
Improved environmental impact on disposal of traditional fluids
Increased profitability of business overall
Increased production due to the ability to run their machines fast and longer without tool change and product top-up.

Duraform PD Details
Duraform PD is a high-performance, semi-synthetic drawing and forming lubricant, designed to replace highly chlorinated products that have been previously required.
Duraform PD has been formulated to incorporate the latest sulphur and phosphorous based chemistry to replace the widespread, historical use of chlorinated kinds of paraffin as extreme pressure additives for drawing and forming. In addition, sophisticated ester based components act as friction modifiers and provide a tenacious lubricant film even under the severest of conditions. Durafrom PD, therefore, ensures excellent component surface finish, protects tooling, and increases performance for cold rolled, galvanised and aluminium surfaces.
